The "Global Business Opportunities" series seminar titled "Brazilian Business Opportunities," jointly organized by Victwo and the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park, was successfully convened at the Haidian Investment Promotion Center on July 28, 2015. Distinguished speakers at the event included former Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Chen Duqing, Mr. Guilherme Belli – head of the Trade and Investment Promotion Section at the Brazilian Embassy in China, Ms. Pang Xiaofang - Manager of Noronha Advogados (Brazilian law firm), and Ms. Kong Yu - Executive Director of Public and Government Affairs at Huawei.
Ambassador Chen Duqing, possessing unparalleled authority on Sino-Brazilian relations, shared firsthand professional experiences from his extensive tenure in Brazil during his presentation. He systematically outlined Brazil's national conditions, and delivered comprehensive analysis of the historical evolution of China-Brazil bilateral relations and the current status and future prospects of bilateral economic cooperation. The former diplomat expressed profound optimism regarding expanded collaborative potential between the two nations.
Representing the Brazilian Embassy in China, Mr. Guilherme Belli focused his address on Brazil's contemporary economic landscape and priority investment sectors. He emphasized Brazil's status as an open economy, particularly in foreign direct investment (FDI), noting that numerous large-scale enterprises operating in Brazil originated through FDI channels. This trend, he illustrated, prominently manifests in automotive manufacturing, agro-industrial processing, and consumer goods sectors. He further highlighted how international investors benefit from Brazil's robust market foundations, supportive regulatory frameworks, modernized and efficient financial systems, and world-class workforce competencies.
Ms. Pang Xiaofang, Manager of Noronha Advogados, analyzed specific case studies from a legal perspective, alerting attendees to potential challenges Chinese enterprises might encounter during Brazilian investment processes. Mr. Kong Yu from Huawei subsequently elaborated on the company’s strategic, phased approach to establishing and consolidating its operational foothold in Brazil.
As an open and diversified economy, Brazil offers extensive investment opportunities across numerous industrial sectors. The nation represents a vibrant, large-scale marketplace where prospects for business development are self-evident to discerning investors. This rationale underpins the Brazilian government’s collaborative efforts to facilitate and support international investors in executing commercial projects nationwide. Brazil’s market remains fully accessible to global enterprises, and we stand prepared to provide robust support throughout your strategic endeavors.
