Delegation from Xiamen Visits Russia's "Silicon Valley"

Facilitated by the Xiamen BRICS+ Technology Accelerator, a distinguished delegation from Xiamen, led by Zhang Canmin, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Xiamen Municipal People's Congress, embarked on a visit to Russia's Skolkovo Innovation Center—commonly referred to as Russia's Silicon Valley—on June 4th, 2024. The delegation engaged in a fruitful meeting with Ms. Monakhova Ekaterina, Head of International Cooperation, among other key figures, with the primary objective of presenting the BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center and China-BRICS Science and Innovation Incubation Park for the New Era. The discussions delved into exploring avenues for collaboration between small and medium-sized enterprises from both China and Russia, as well as examining the policy frameworks and industrial ecosystems supporting Xiamen-based companies' entry into the Russian market.

The visit yielded preliminary consensus on two pivotal collaboration areas. First, there is a mutual commitment to facilitate the internationalization of startups, with both sides agreeing to devise comprehensive support strategies aimed at easing the procedures for companies entering each other's markets and ensuring their successful landing in China and Russia. Second, the two sides vowed to enhance cooperation in industrial project matchmaking by compiling and sharing company profiles to efficiently align project needs, thereby establishing a streamlined and effective communication channel for project partnerships.
